During Pauls 40 years experience, his career path has developed with the following companies; initially with Sir Frederick Snow & Partners, Fordham Parsons (now part of the Scott Wilson Group), Ernest Green & Partners (now part of the White Young Group), then, more recently and to date since 2000 establishing my own modest consultancy.
Projects and skills have been wide and varied from initially being involved with predominantly reinforced concrete structures for public work utilities within the Far East with Sir Frederick Snow & Partners, also including local housing schemes, schools and extensive refurbishment works to existing substantial structures.

 

There then followed a modest period with a smaller consultant, Fordham Parsons who at that time were involved with a considerable number of local authorities checking compliance, modest new build structures and marine slipways and associated dock works.

 

The remainder of Pauls career to date has been involved with specialist design involving in excess of 26 Crematoriums, extensive insurance led work with regards to the perils of flood and fire to both commercial and domestic premises, extensive historic refurbishment works to barns, grade II* Listed structures including façade retention and, parallel to that achieving acceptance to the Academy of Experts and developing a role of providing court assistance in the guise of a single joint expert or as a joint expert considering wide and various construction issues ranging from defective workmanship to high court actions in the Queen’s Bench Division Technology & Construction emanating from major damage to highways and properties.  Cases are of a high profile nature and have featured in television documentaries. Other cases have included personal injury claims under health and safety legislation for in gestation of dust particles due to poor health and safety procedures.

 

More recently, designs include crematoria, nursing homes, temporary works, specialist designs for ‘cut and carve’ works to incorporate lifts and other retail amendments. Works further include conversion of twin 6 storey historic industrial mills incorporating a bespoke 6 storey structural glass-interlinking block for stairs and lifts.

  • Retained by leading supplier of structural glazing for structural design.
  • Retained by major utility company for expert advice/opinion for damage by electrical power cables.
  • Design Projects have been accredited for several awards, especially in respect of heritage work.
  • Retained by major utility company and insurers for expert advice/opinion for burst water mains reference cause and effect.

 

As a CDM co-ordinator, preparation of pre-construction phase documentation, including preparation of O&M manuals. In addition preparation of contractors “own” health and safety manuals including policy statements, compliance with COSHH and RIDDOR regulations.

Retained by various fun-fare parks to provide a design review and certification for rides. This also requires annual structural safety inspections.
